Privette Earns Two More All-America Honors
Charleston sophomore pitcher William Privette earned All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game.
Charleston sophomore relief pitcher William Privette earned All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game on Wednesday, and was one of five CAA players who received All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Privette was chosen as a second-team All-American by both the NCBWA and Perfect Game after previously being honored by Collegiate Baseball. He was also named to the ABCA Atlantic All-Region first team. UNCW second baseman Brooks Baldwin and Seahawks’ shortstop Taber Mongero made the All-Atlantic Region second team. Chosen to the Northeast All-Region second team were Northeastern pitchers Wyatt Scotti and Eric Yost.
Privette, the 2022 CAA Pitcher of the Year, went 3-1 with a nation’s best 0.91 ERA and a CAA-high 12 saves. He struck out 80 batters in 59.1 innings and held opposing batters to a .148 average.
Baldwin, the 2022 CAA Player of the Year, topped the conference with a .347 batting average. He also contributed 13 doubles, 11 homers, 39 RBI’s and 44 runs scored while stealing 16 bases.
Mongero, a first-team All-CAA selection, batted .301 with 12 doubles, six homers, 23 RBI’s and 41 runs scored. He was also strong defensively, committing just nine errors in 232 chances.
Scotti went 8-3 with a 2.88 ERA while making 14 starts for Northeastern. A second-team All-CAA pick, he struck out 65 batters in 88.1 innings.
Yost was 3-3 with a 2.48 while making 20 appearances and 10 starts for the Huskies. He fanned 58 batters in 61.2 frames and was an honorable mention All-CAA selection.
