Texas A&M Baseball Schedule 2024: What To Know

Texas A&M baseball ranks among the most consistent programs of the 21st century, including a recent transition into a new era.

The third year of that era arrives in 2024, with the Aggies boasting a lineup capable of going to Omaha, including a top 10 prospect in Braden Montgomery.

Texas A&M's impressive roster looks to make noise in the stacked Southeastern Conference, as well as on the national landscape.

Here's what to know about the Aggies and their pursuit of a national championship in 2024:

How Did Texas A&M Baseball Do In 2023?

After a streak of 13 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances ended in 2021, the Aggies continued a new streak in 2023 with their second consecutive trip to the postseason.

Texas A&M bowed out in the Stanford Regional, but not before taking the host Cardinal to a rubber match.

The strong showing in the regional continued the momentum from an outstanding SEC Tournament that launched A&M into the postseason.

A&M finished the 2023 campaign 38-27 and 14-16 in the treacherous SEC.

This season, the Aggies look like they should be one of the front-runners in the SEC West.

Who Coaches Texas A&M Baseball?

The 2024 campaign marks the third with Jim Schlossnagle at the helm of Texas A&M baseball.

The veteran coach came to College Station with an impressive resume, built over two decades as a head coach, first with an NCAA Tournament in 2003 at UNLV, then a wildly successful and lengthy run at TCU.

Schlossnagle won 693 games at TCU from 2004 through 2021 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament every year but two, led the Horned Frogs to the College World Series five times, and reached Omaha an incredible four straight seasons from 2014-2017.

He debuted at Texas A&M with the sixth College World Series of his career and top billing in the loaded SEC West.

Has Texas A&M Ever Won The College World Series?

No, the Aggies have never won a college World Series.

Texas A&M's trip to the 2022 College World Series under Schlossnagle's guidance marked their sixth in program history, second in five years, and third in 11 seasons. However, Texas A&M has never come out on top at the College World Series, but it's a milestone the 2024 Aggies aim to reach.

Notable Returning Players

Jace LaViolette, OF

Preseason All-American Jace LaViolette combines power at the plate with speed around the base paths.

Last year, he was the Aggies' leading home-run hitter with 21 round-trippers and paced A&M with 18 steals.

His 1.046 OPS and .632 slugging percentage were far-and-away team-highs.

Max Kaufer, C

Max Kaufer jumped right into the fray at Texas A&M, joining the team just before the start of last season as a top 2023 prospect.

He faced some freshman struggles at the plate, but came on strong down the stretch with a pair of three-RBI performances against Vanderbilt in the championship game of the SEC Tournament and the regional opener against Cal State Fullerton.

Kaufer's dependability behind the plate provides a building block, however, and his finish to 2023 offers a promising potential preview of what to expect from the former blue-chip recruit in his sophomore campaign.

Notable Newcomers

Gavin Grahovac, 3B

Among the top prospects from a loaded signing class, Gavin Grahovac adds a powerful bat to the Aggies lineup in 2024. The recruit out of Orange County in Southern California hit .350, .376 and .411 in his last three seasons at Villa Park High School.

Braden Montgomery, OF/RHP

Transfer Braden Montgomery brings All-American credentials to Texas A&M from Stanford, where last season, he hit .336 in 244 at-bats with 17 home runs.

A&M knows first-hand his potential at the plate, as Montgomery had five hits against the Aggies in the final two games of their season last spring.

Montgomery also is a capable pitcher, having struck out 19 batters in 14 innings of work last season. He struck out 28 in 18 2/3 innings pitched as a Freshman All-American in 2022.
